We had 0ur appt. yesterday. The u/s went well. Garrett went with me. The baby had a heartbeat of 148 and is measuring right on track. We were able to find out the gender. It's another boy! His name will be Conner Micheal. We have some good u/s pictures of him and we were able to get a few 3d ones. He looks really skinny but, that's due to no body fat right now. He won't plump up for a few more weeks. I go back next month for another u/s and appt. The u/s we had was just a cursery one. The next one is when she'll look at the organs and measure. That will be the routine 20wk. one.
We did get some news too. I have been diagnosed with complete placenta previa. That is where the placenta is completely over the cervix. If I go into labor the baby won't be able to go where he is suppose to because the placenta is in the way. I also have to be aware of any bleeding and tell the dr. asap because there could be a chance of bleeding out. I'm on restrictions of no heavy lifting (i.e. Sawyer, etc.), no excercise, no strenuous activity. I'm still ok to clean, dishes and laundry as of right now. If I do start to bleed I'm going to be put on immediate bedrest. So, I'm back into the high risk category again. I think I was out of that category for about a month. I'll be monitored closely with non stress tests, amioncentsis, and u/s. At 30wks. gestation I'll go in at least weekly if not twice weekly to the dr. and get hooked up to the none stress test machine. It's where they monitor his heartrate for a period of time. They are doing this because where the placenta has attached it won't get all the nutrients it needs to pass on to the baby. The dr. wants to make sure his heartrate stays where it's suppose to. Starting at 36wks. gestation I'll go in for weekly aminocentsis. That's where they stick a needle into the uterus and take out some fluid. They will test that for his lung development. As soon as his lungs are developed enough I'll be given a c-section to get him out. So, it can be anywhere from April to May that Conner will be here. The dr. did say that there is a chance that the placenta may move alittle to a partial placenta previa when my uterus starts to stretch more. But, he said that it's highly unlikely. He has never seen it happen and not to get my hopes up too high.
I'm doing ok with this diagnosis. This baby is just making us work really hard for him. At least now I know I won't have to endure labor again. :) Plus, being so far from the hospital it will give us a schedule to be able to work with. I think we would have a day or two maybe to be warned. Maybe a few hours. At least we would be able to get a few things situated that we needed to. Plus, with the placenta previa the chances of this baby being smaller is much greater (i.e. 6lbs.) so, now Garrett and I will really know what it's like to have a newborn rather than one that's the size of a 3month old. :)
Sawyer is doing well with the change from a sister to a brother. He's very excited. He already has certain tractors Conner can play with. There are times when he does ask why he can't have a sister and we just tell him that this is what the baby wants to be and he seems ok with it. He likes to look at his baby brother's pictures from the u/s. So, I think we are all doing well.
